  • Venue: online event
  • Zoom link for the webinar will be emailed to you 24 hours before the event
  • This free Zoom webinar will last 60 minutes and there will be an opportunity for attendees to ask questions and contribute towards the end.

Speakers

  • Karen Roberts, St George's Catholic School, Taunton, describes the steps the school has taken to face the significant challenges of a rapid increase in EAL pupils - from 22% in 2011 to 70% currently.
  • Sara Lozano Arcas of St Andrews Preparatory School, with a boarding house where most pupils are multilingual, explains the journey the school has taken to achieve the Gold EAL Quality Mark.

About the EAL Quality Mark

The EAL Quality Mark is based on a school’s self-evaluation of its EAL provision. It is an award made to schools on their achievements in meeting the needs of pupils learning English as an additional language. 

It is available as a bronze, silver or gold award, allowing schools the opportunity to re-visit the award and build on their practice over time. Any school with pupils on roll who are learning English as an additional language is eligible to apply.
